If you are new to tramway modelling here are some useful books:-

For large scale Model Trams i.e. 3/4inch to the foot, the bible has to be Peter Hammond's book. The book includes a plan for an open top 4 wheel car and plans for various trucks and bogies, all in 3/4inch. It takes you through all the stages of building the car in the plan in wood. It also describes how to build more modern cars using plastic card or metal. Here are the chapters:- Introduction Tools and Materials The Bodywork Modern Cars Trucks and Bogies Wiring the model Painting and Lining Track and Overhead Power Supplies Conclusion Summary and Appendix Plan of 1/16 Preston type open top tramcar and range of tramcar trucks. The book is now out of print. I would suggest searching the second hand book sites for copies.
